By networking, encouraging other believers, and sharing and supporting each other, Christians can begin to rebuild their lives after jobs, ministry opportunities, or volunteer work have been lost. Most believers know that God has a place and purpose for everyone’s life, even though it may not always feel that way. Those who have worked in full or part time Christian ministry know what a blessing it is to be of service to others, while serving together amongst other believers. Sadly for many, layoffs, lack of financial support, and tough economic times can quickly take a toll on Christian jobs.
Keep in mind that ministry opportunities and volunteer work abounds. For a person who is currently between jobs, using your time in service to the Lord is a great way to network. Day in and day out, you will be in the company of people who will be looking out for your best interest. When a position becomes available, it's possible that you would be one of the first people to hear about it. Ecclesiastes 3:1 states, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven…”
Christians who see the need to support those who are struggling, step up to the plate and provide resources for the Christian community. Working side by side other believers, those who share the moral standards and ethics of Christ, make a working environment much more pleasant. What better way to learn and grown than to work day after day, encouraging and helping each other in the love of Christ?
Christians who have previously worked in such environments often prefer working in a Christian environment over a secular one. But, remember, it is important to shine your light in a dark place. Wherever a person finds employment, they can find unsaved individuals who need encouragement, those who would be led to Christ, and other Christians who may need support.
